Who walked in? "Charlie's Angles"

Charlie's Angle's can't but help notice someone entering their favorite coffee house as they take a break from Christmas shopping... Who can it be? Work in progress.

Google Analytics vs Blogger Stats

Google Analytics vs Blogger Stats - Looks like Google Analytics is more accurate.

I will try to put more charming work on here, such as the Flamingo and Charlie's Angels.

Hang in there.

Boffette Startled

Haven't drawn Boffette in a while. Quick sketch tweaked in Photoshop. Got to get my line back.

Hollywood Reporter- 10 Inappropriately Sexy Cartoon Characters

Stumbled across this on Black Friday morning, November 2012.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/gallery/10-sexiest-cartoon-character-film-254877

(Cubcake shows off her new power-gem to Herman Bear.)

It's clear men have a blind spot about boundaries when it comes to making women into sex-objects. There may always be stereotypes, glamor, spectacle, shock value, and cheap laughs. IMO, characters such as Jessica Rabbit pretty much set the limit as far as bad taste, and, ironically, still remain as an endearing character. (There are the rougher, more brutal animated films, and movies in general where women are treated as... (fill in the blank)

Which begs the question: Should there be no sensuality at all? Should we all just go around in sack cloth and ashes? Most of us have had girlfriends, sisters, female co-workers, even moms, right? We see them through our hearts, and our attachment to them will always trump any glamor magazine. Also, I also think part of the answer lies in how people carry themselves. Some folks, male or female, can spend a fortune on diets, cosmetics and workouts, and still have not much appeal. Then there's a line from the Lovin' Spoonful song: "Your heart gets stolen by some mousy little girl."

http://www.mp3lyrics.org/l/lovin-spoonful/did-you-ever-have-to-make-up-your-mind/

It will always be a world on the edge. We are still fascinated by the "Pretty Girl in Jeopardy" theme. And yet, we still get bugged when someone is trying to being "hot"; and jamming it in our faces when we're really not in the mood for it.

After 50 some years of consuming animation and Marvel Comics, I feel like the worst offender sometimes in putting out this blog. And the heart is fickle, and there are many "diamonds in the rough" we will never appreciate. But then I've gone off into romance haven't I? Maybe I'm just some myopic chauvinist who believes women should be seen... and not hurt. Especially during the Holiday shopping season. "The victim was asking for it, being dressed like that."

If anyone is really reading this blog, let me know if I'm putting out anything worthwhile.

Ice Wolf Goddess-Doctor Spectrum style

And poor old Herman Bear managed to get her ticked off! Sort of a Doctor Spectrum tribute with the power crystal on the back of her hand. Really loose sketch, tweaked in Photoshop.
More work in progress. *sigh* Don't worry, it has a happy ending... Maybe.
Happy Thanksgiving!

The Ice Wolf goddesses

Distant, swirling goddesses from the North brood down on us...
Work in progress; Photoshopped from quick sketch. I've always had these tall, frosty wraiths in the back of my mind, now that the election is over, I'm bringing you the first glimpse.

Good blog, bad blog

What is the main purpose of a blog? Offer expertise or opinions on certain subjects. Make money. Or be a general benefit to society. On the other hand, someone took the time to research this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lola_Bunny

What kind of message are they trying to send with Lola Bunny?

http://looneytunes.wikia.com/wiki/Lola_Bunny

At first glance, she's fun, she's cute, she's sexy- But- she's also intelligent, street-smart, athletic and very resilient.
A good model for young women? A female many guys find attractive?

I'm torn with this blog. There's a lot of distasteful furry stuff out there already. The advice I got from a friend was "Titillation, but not gratification".

I'm trying.

Blog Value

I see the numbers on this blog have really dropped. I must not be doing this well, according to business models. I just wanted an outlet for my female fantasy characters, but I see now that a blog has to make money(well duh), be an authority on some subject, or offer some meaningful contribution to society. Maybe it's time to pull the plug on this, or put it in mothballs for the time being. Entertainment and spectacle have some function, but I don't even have any T-shirts to sell.
Besides, the world has been choked enough with cute, sexy characters right?

"Mae West" Cobra Lady for Halloween

What can I say? It just gets weirder! Come up and see her sometime? Sculpture of styrofoam and plaster; modified with Photoshop. She just reminded me of Mae West for some reason.

Anonymous Postings

It's been tough walking the line between appeal and good taste while staying away from blatantly adult material. I may have slipped already. I don't think Hugh Hefner went through times like this, but I see where a lot of comic publishers did. I finally got my first comment, but there's no way to know who this was. On one hand, I like to create my fantasy females, and it's fun to show them off. But on the other hand, there is a world full of sick appetites out there, and if my art feeds only those sick hungers, then I'll stop and delete this blog. The blog is open to comments, and I think my viewers can email me. Maybe I'm a fool to trust people on a system where anyone can do just about anything. I'll have to see what happens.

Flamingo Rollerskate Waitress Christmas

Okay, it's early, but I'm trying to update her rig to get some more appealing poses. I want to keep this blog charming. I made her outfit red, and gave her a little Santa hat, so there's no power-suit or anything; just the magic of her charisma.

Big Shoes to Fill

This must be my week for cats, have a lot of cat-girl sketches that want to get out.
Miss Ruby Khat tries on some oversized magic wingtips. Stay tuned!

Good Luck Krusha!

New "Charlies Angels" color study

Just blocking out their colors. Long ago I had a teacher who wanted his students to make "cool" colors advance, and warm colors recede instead of the usual way. I'm experimenting with value to make it work. The trio faces a deadly threat, now that Autumn is here! Stay tuned.

"To use power is to be used by power"

I Googled this quote; couldn't find it on the web. Honest! Maybe I read it in an old Marvel comic somewhere, but I'm taking credit for it. My characters can fall prey to this, along with the rest of the world. Stay tuned! (Bugs Bunny and his Genie are copyright Warner Bros.)

Flamingo Roller Skating Waitress Returns As A Green Lantern?

A Green Lantern?!? Rough sketch, tweaked in Photoshop, work in progress. And she still keeps her skates.

Flamingo Roller Skater Waitress returns, sketch

Large, ominous wheels roll up towards an unsuspecting Herman Bear...

Flamingo Roller Skater Waitress handles a new customer

Herman Bear is caught off guard by Louise in her perfectly polished skates. She just wanted to check him out as he wanders around the drive-in, without a car. No car, no service I guess. Quick, loose sketches, just trying to get an idea down. The head floating there on the right was a bad guy from a Herman Bear story I could never quite get to crystalize.

Flamingo Roller Skater Waitress sketch

Weak sketch, I know. I was blitzing thru this to get her done in Maya.

Boffette, the Jet Puffin, Returns!

My Betty Boop/Iron Man suit/Tweety Bird lady is back in a new power-suit for a romantic evening, with Herman Bear looking on, somewhat apprehensively. Used smear, dodge and burn tool on color pencil sketch over an altered digital photo. Work in progress.

Ibex Goddess update

Settling on a color scheme for her; she's still not ready. She seems to be wearing spring type colors, not fall. Still have to get her ready for Halloween. And she's still not happy to see us.

Olympic Phoenix painting

The closing ceremonies moved me to create a "new" muse: a Phoenix! It was reassuring to see the Phoenix rise, keeping the fire going, as the Olympic torch was being put out. The Olympic logo is  the copyright of the International Olympic Committee. Hope I'm still around in 2016, I've been taking the Olympics for granted all these years. I've been taking a lot of things for granted these days...

Alternative Pod Racer luxury model sketch

The cute Bambi-Cobra tries out a deluxe model racing shell as her bear friend looks on; the posts in the padded deck give her yaw, pitch and roll control. The throttle for the engine is controlled by her tail. (The top shell/canopy was removed to give her access.) Coloring this has been driving me crazy.

More Pod Racing

Another model, this time it's a lady snake in a single engine pod racer. This would be a smaller, lighter sport hovercraft skimming a foot or so above the ground, modified with a larger boot-jet engine. Sculpture tweaked in Photoshop. Made from styrofoam, plaster, cardboard and plastic Easter egg candy dish. Weird, ain't it? I'll get back to drawing asap.

Pod Racer - Personal Hovercraft

Here's a "Bubble Jet Vixen" sculpture I created with Sculpy, balsa wood and a plastic Easter egg candy dish. This is a personal hovercraft souped up for racing. There's no jet engines in the front towing the pod, the engines are in her boots.

Charlie's Angels cartoon sketch

Okay, so they're not from the hit TV show. At least not from our world. It's a ruff sketch of Cubcake, Boffette and a Bambi-Cobra (in a boot) as an alternate trio. I need to do a better cleanup and get it in color. This trio has one magic user, and one in a super-suit. Not sure how the Cobra gal will function...yet.

Flamingo Dancer roller skate waitress

Actually, she's a roller skating waitress, but I got this great pose of her using Maya.

Not Safe For Work-Cobra Mistress sketch

The Bird-Lady, "Boffette", manages to charm two cuddly cobras...Not for the kiddies! Her outfit does cover her body, needs some color. Work in progress. Which cobra head goes with which body?

Boffette, the bird girl, takes a bow

Another loose sketch I found. Unable to post when I was traveling.

Another Bird Girl!

Hey, trying to be faithful to a post a day. Spent Sunday thru old drawings. Here's another rough sketch of "Boffette". She's a "good guy", standing up for other people who get in trouble for being different. Her looks and her powers usually help her save the day. Usually.

Portrait of a young man as a horse, or Centaur in reverse

Here's a print from an old woodcut I did back in college. Horse and rider come together more closely than either anticipated. The assignment called for a design revolving around a capital letter, "E" for Equus.

Welcome to Adorable Diabolicals! Here on this blog, the sweetest, well, most adorable characters turn out to be the worst trouble-makers. But I'll leave that to your imagination. What else is the internet for?
